Hardback. A 1921, Frst Edition copy complete with a dust jacket. With A Section On Progress In Aeroplane Design by Lieut. Col. W. Lockwood Marsh. This book surveys the evolution of flight from ancient myths and legends to the advances made in aeronautics, particularly focusing on heavier than air flight and ballooning. It explores the contributions of significent figures in the field, such as Sir George Cayley and the Wright brothers. The dust jacket on this copy is discoloured with closed tears and wear to the extremities. Underneath lie navy cloth boards with a little bumping to the edges. The pages are generally clean despite some foxing, illustrated with several plates in monochrome. Overall though a good copy. pp. x + 521 + 4. A scarce copy particulary with it's dust jacket.
