Hardback. A First Edition copy with an inscription from the author to the front free endpaper. Complete with a pictorial dust jacket in good condition despite fading to the spine and a little discolouration to the rear. Underneath lie black cloth boards which are lightly faded and bumped, with a slight lean to the spine. The pages within are clean and illustrated with a photographic frontispiece. pp. 256. The biography of Sir Roderic Hill who from 1943 to 1945 was Air Marshal Commanding Air Defence of Great Britain and Commander In Chief Fighter Command. Thus to him fell the responsbilities of protecting the air during the invasion preparations and combating the flying bombs of the Germans during the summer and autumn of 1944.
