Bound in grey cloth with gold gilt lettering and an illustration of a pelican on the cover, this hardback book contains pages 1-43 of introductions, poems, and stories about the 44 full-colour illustrations (and frontispiece) featured in the book, each protected by a tissue guard. Rackham's "Book of Pictures" contains a selection of his most memorable, whimsical, wonderful and terrifying illustrations, from "Jack Frost" to "Mother Goose", the viewer is treated to high quality and imaginative depictions of famous characters. This first edition copy is in very good condition, and comes with a Rackham ex-libris illustration on the front free endpaper, as well as a small 1913 William Heinemann advertisement. This book has slight foxing throughout, offsetting on the front free endpaper, a small stain to the edge of the cover, and very occasional small tears and missing pieces from the edges of the pages. This rare and well-preserved edition of "Arthur Rackham's Book of Pictures" is looking for a new home, and would make for the perfect gift for any Rackham enthusiast.
