Hardback. This 1936 First Edition copy is signed by the author to the half title page. The book is complete with an unclipped dust jacket which despite light wear and fading is in very good condition. Underneath lie cloth boards which are lightly discoloured in places although overall present well. The pages within are clean with a touch of foxing to the prelims. There is an inscription " to the Professor with best wishes " signed and dated, 15/11/36, by the author to the half title page. Illustrated with maps to the endpapers and several black and white photographic images. pp. xii + 305. Overall a very good copy. John Grierson, a long-distance pilot, the first solo pilot to cross from Great Britain via Greenland to Canada. This is a firsthand account of his crash in Iceland and of his second, successful attempt.
