Hardback. A 1923, First Edition copy, with signature from the author to the frontispiece. This book also includes a small ex-library pamphlet containing a lecture given by Major W.T. Blake in January, 1923. The book is bound in green cloth with gilt titles to the spine and illustrated with several photographic images. Overall in very good condiiton with just minor foxing to the pages. pp. 238. The pamphlet has the remains of tape down the spine and the front cover is detached with a library label to the title page. The rest of the pages are clean. pp. 40. A firsthand account of the first British attempt to fly around the globe in 1922. The book details an ambitious and ill-fated journey using multiple aircraft, including a DH-9 and a Fairy IIIC that was abandoned in the Bay of Bengal due to technical failures, illnesses and financial constraints, despite the crew's perseverance. A must for any aviation enthusiast.
