Smiths aircraft instruments was a major British manufacturer that played a central role in the development of aviation technology throughout the 20th Century. It became a dominant force in the design and manufacturing of aircraft instruments, navigational aids, and automatic pilots, playing a pivotal role in supplying the aviation industry and military during World War II. This title is bound with blue card covers with an internal metal clasp fastening. There are several dates within, at the base of each page, March 1939, April 1940 with August, October and December 1938 to the rear, possibly more !. The binding has faded with closed tears along the extremities. Although considering it's age and usage is in pretty good condition. The pages within are clean and illustrated with many photographic images, some in colour. Sectional dividers provide easy access to the various types of accessories. This copy comes complete with a separate "Interim Price List of Aviation Instruments" Issued September 1946. A paperback, with light discolouration to the rear, otherwise in very good condition. Overall a scarce and fascinating title. Part of a huge aviation collection just acquired by St Marys Books.
