Hardback. A 1918 First Edition complete with it's dust jacket. The book captures Walcott's journey from his training in the United States to his service with the French aviation forces. It delves into themes of patriotism, courage, and the harsh realities of war. His letters not only serve as an historical record but also paints a piognant picture of a young man's yearning for adventure and sense of duty amid the chaos of war. Our copy comes complete with a slightly worn dust jacket. While underneath the pale blue cloth boards show light fading to the spine although showing very little wear. The fore-edge is untrimmed while the text block is tight with no loose pages. The pages are very clean throughout, remarkable given the age of the book. Illustrated with a monotone frontispiece together with two more images throughout. pp. 93. Overall a very good copy. A must for any aviation enthusiast.
