A common practice from the late 19th to early 20th century, preserving ephemeral scientific papers. The binding in black cloth has gilt titles to the front and is in very good condition. Angus and Mack bound with an incomplete loose original front cover. The first two pages of the The Winged Aerostat have been professionally repaired while the title page to Angus and Mack has the authors' inscription along the top edge. "William Hayward Esq with the respect of the author" A unique copy. James Armour was a civil engineer known for applying structural engineering principles to flight.
