Hardback. Copy number 22 of an unspecified Limited Edition, with an inscription signed by the author to the title page. This copy comes complete with a typed letter from the author to Brian Cocks, a leading aviation enthusiast. Walter George Raymond Hinchliffe was a highly distinguished British aviator and World War I flying ace and aviation pioneer. He retired from the Royal Air Force and joined Royal Dutch Airlines (KLM) as their first pilot. Hinchliffe died during an early transatlantic crossing in 1928, departing in adverse conditions, despite meticulous planning. This rare self-published document was prepared by Hinchliffe's daughter and printed in Melbourne. It transcribes the flying logbooks of Walter Hinchliffe from 1916 to 1928 with, in some parts, a weather log for 1923 to the final pages. This copy has been bound in blue cloth with the Initials W.G.R. Hinchliffe to the front. Overall a good copy despite some discolouration to the binding. The pages within are lightly toned although clean. pp. 4 + 380 + xxx. A must for any aviation enthusiast.
