Hardback. First Edition, Second Impression published in 1956 by the renowned Canadian author Pierre Berton. It won the Governor General Literary Award the same year. Written as a personal narrative, the book chronicles several trips the author took to various parts of the Canadian north following World War II. Offering a comprehensive look at the region's vast landscape and culture. This copy is complete with a pictorial dust jacket over white cloth boards. The dust jacket is worn to the extremities with rubbing and wear to the rear. The cloth boards are a little toned although present well. Neat signature, date and stamp to the front endpapers, the rest of the pages are very clean throughout. Illustrated with several photographic images and maps. pp. xiii + 345 + xv. Overall a good copy and part of a huge aviation collection just acquired by St Marys Books.
