Edition: First Edition
Published By: Forbes Robertson Ltd
This 1951, First Edition copy provides a comprehensive review of the first half-century of aviation history. Written from the perspective of an author who was personally involved in the field for much of that time. The narrative begins with the start of the formation of the Aero Club in 1901 and follows the evolution of flight through to the introduction of the de Havilland Comet, the world's first jet airliner. Our copy is complete with its unclipped dust jacket which, although generally is in good condition does show some edge wear, especially along the bottom edge. The blue cloth boards underneath are faded, although still present well with hardly any wear. The inscription on the title page is signed by Geoffrey Dorman and dated 29.5.51. The pages within are lightly toned especially to the front and rear endpapers although very clean throughout. Illustrated with several black and white photographic plates. pp. xv + 346. Overall a good copy, a must for any aviation enthusiast.
