St Mary's Books is proud to present this December 2008 first edition of "The Tales of Beedle the Bard" authored and illustrated by J. K. Rowling and accompanied by some limited edition prints. Housed inside a brown clamshell case styled to look like a leatherbound edition of "The Tales..." with gold gilt lettering, intricate blind tooling, all-edge gilt, and raised bands on the spine, this extravagant exterior is also protected with a white card slipcase. Inside the clamshell case, one finds a black velvet interior inlaid with velvet pockets - the left with an envelope containing 10 original prints, illustrated by J. K. Rowling. The right pocket holds a maroon velvet drawstring pouch embroidered with Rowling's signature, which houses the book itself. This hardback faux-leather book is decorated with intricate metal inlays in each of the four corners surrounding a metal skull in the centre, brightened with bright blue gemstones. Upon un-doing the metal clasp and opening the book, one finds grey marbled free endpapers, followed by a stunningly presented edition. The 180 pages of blue ink text are made to resemble a manuscript, containing a facsimilie of Rawling's hand-written introduction, and the following pages "translated from the runes by Hermione Granger". This set is in fine condition - though the card slipcase has some shelf wear, the clamshell case, the limited edition prints, the drawstring bag, and the book itself are all impeccably well preserved. "The Tales of Beedle the Bard" would make for a perfect gift for any Wizarding World collector.
