American travel writer Richard Halliburton's memoir of his 18 month journey around the world in a gold and scarlet open-cockpit Spearman C3B biplane named "The Flying Carpet". The book is noted for it's gung-ho narrative style, reflecting the adventurous spirit of the early 1930's. Our copy is bound in full red cloth with embossed titles to the front and titles in silver to the spine. Illustrated with maps to the endpapers and several photographic images. Overall a good copy with slight discolouration to the boards and fading to the spine. The pages show a scattering of foxing, particularly to the prelims, although generally clean. pp. 352. A good addition to any aviation library.
