Published in 1910, this historical work is an early synthesis of aviation history and technology, featuring around 120 engravings and documentary photographs that illustrate the development of flight, including gas balloons and early aircraft. This copy is beautifully bound in red cloth with pictorial paper onlay to the front, bevelled edges and printed vignette and titles to the spine. The text block edges are gilt and still bright. There is a little wear and fading to the spine although the binding is still in very good condition. Small piece missing to the front free endpaper. Light toning and foxing to the pages otherwise a good clean copy. pp. 345 + 5. French Text. A beautiful copy, a lovely addition to any aviation library.
