Pride and Prejudice

Jane Austen

Edition: Reprint

Illustrated By: Charles E. Brock

Published By: Macmillan and Co. Ltd.

"It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife". St Mary's Books is proud to present this 1903 reprint of Jane Austen's much-beloved work, "Pride and Prejudice", illustrated by Charles E. Brock. Bound in terracotta coloured cloth with gold gilt lettering, all-edge gilt, and an intricate and delicate almost lace-like floral motif on the cover and spine in brown ink, this hardback book contains i-xxx, 351pp. and 4 pages of advertisements to the back of the book. Within the pages of this book, the reader is treated to the infamous story of Mr Darcy and Elizabeth Bennett, the social forces and character flaws that serve to keep them apart, and the ways in which they overcome them to be united. Charles E. Brock's charming illustrations supplement this incredible story by adding a touch of whimsy and bringing to life the characters and their journeys. This copy is in good to very good condition - there is some slight bumping to the edges and corners of the boards, an inscription on the front free endpaper, some splitting at the hinges, and some very minor foxing. However, the text remains clean and readable, and the book has been overall remarkably well preserved given its age and rarity. "Pride and Prejudice" is looking for a new home and would make for the perfect gift for any Austen-lover.
