This set of four volumes comprises the volumes, 1 to 8 with the first volume dated, April 30, 1859 To October 22, 1859 and the last volume From March 15, to September 6, 1862. All four volumes are bound in half tan leather with marble paper covered sides with all volumes displaying some rubbing and wear. The text blocks are weak with cracking to the internal hinges, volume 5/6 and 7/8 have loose boards. There are previous owner's signatures to the prelims while the rest of the pages although toned are generally clean. This Victorian periodical was founded by Charles Dickens and hosted the serialisation of many prominent novels and ran until 1895. Within these issues contained the first appearances of A Tale of Two Cities and Great Expectations by Charles Dickens and also Wilkie Collins The Women in White. Overall this set is in fair condition, although they remain a readable set and a suitable addition to any Charles Dickens enthusiast.
