St Mary's Books is proud to present this 1764 Church of England edition of "The Book of Common Prayer, and Administration of the Sacraments and other Rites and Ceremonies of the Church, According to the Use of The Church of England: Together with the Psalter or Psalms of David, Pointed as they are to be sung or said in Churches". Bound in bright red leather with intricate blind tooling and gold gilt decorations on the cover, this hardback book has five raised bands on its spine and further gold gilt decorations. Inside, past the marbled free endpapers, one finds details on the Act for the Uniformity of Public Prayers, further details on abolished and retained ceremonies, calendar tables highlighting the lessons to be read in each month, followed by the psalms themselves organised by occasion or time of year. This copy is in good condition - there is some significant bumping to the boards, the spine is weak, and the free endpaper is worn, however, other than being slightly yellowed with age, the interior pages themselves remain clean and readable with few notable imperfections. This 1764 edition of "The Book of Common Prayer" is looking for a new home where it will be similarly preserved and appreciated.
