Hansen and published in 1987 as part of the Official NASA history series the book comprehensively documents the first four decades of the Langley Memorial Aeronautial Laboratory in Hampton, Virginia. It explores how the lab served as the premier research hub for the NAtional Advisory Committee for Aeronautics before being absorbed into NASA in 1958. This copy has paper covers which are slightly creased, with a light stain along the base edge of the verso of the front cover. The pages within are very clean. pp. xxxviii + 620 + 2. An ideal addition to any budding aviation library.
