A classic biographical memoir written by Cold War Pilot Francis Gary Powers alongside co-author Curt Gentry. The book provides Powers' firsthand account of the infamous 1960 U-2 incident, during which his top secret CIA reconnaissance aircraft was shot down deep within Soviat airspace. This book was written to clear his name after years of public scrutiny and a critique of the intelligence community's handling of the crisis. This copy is the 1971 First British Edition. Complete with its dust jacket, the book is in very good condition. There is a little fading to the spine of the dust jacket, together with a little edge wear. The spine has a slight lean. The pages within are very clean. pp. 375. A lovely addition to any aviation library.
