Written by Luigi Garibbo the text offers a snapshot of the intense public fascination with hot-air and gas ballooning in the 1830's. It traces the evolution of manned flight from the late 18th century to the period's cutting edge aeronautical exhibitions. This copy has been bound in red cloth with the original covers bound in. There is a small paper label to the base of the spine and a small pen mark to the front. The binding however, is still quite bright and displays little wear. Small library label and stamp to the front end-papers. The front cover has some pencil notation along the top and together with the rear cover, has some tape repair to the verso. There is some foxing throughout, although the text is still legible. Small previous owner's label dated 1839 to the last page. pp. 176. Overall a fascinating volume with Italian Text and a must for any aviation enthusiast.
