Published in 1931 and produced explicity for the proprietors of Shell Oil Company in London. It is an early informational handbook and practical training manual for everyday, amateur pilots navigating the early era of aviation in the 1930's. This first edition copy is complete with its dust jacket and notable for its diagrams and period-specific instructional details. Rare to find with its dust jacket, although it is in poor condition with large pieces missing to the extremities. The binding underneath is a little bumped although clean and displaying little wear. There are numerous pen notations, together with a newspaper clipping and signatures in thick black ink to the front end-papers. The signature is repeated along the text block edges. The pages within are clean despite the occasional pencil notation. pp. 165 + 3. A must for any ealry aviation enthusiast.
