Royal Air Force Journal near Complete Run from November 1941 to May 1946 including Royal Air Force Journal Middle East Edition

Edition: First Edition

Published By: Royal Air Force

A highly sought after, near complete historical run of the official Royal Air Force Journal, which spans from its inception in November 1941 to its final wartime journal in May 1946. It was produced primarily for internal circulation by The Air Ministry. This series offers an invaluable, primary source into the air campaigns, technological updates, and daily operational humour of the RAF during World War II. These editions are bound with the exception of the last few. The journals from November 1941 to October 1942, are bound in blue buckram, with gilt titles to the spine. The buckram is a little discoloured although displays minimal wear. The pages are clean and illustrated with several humorous illustrations, including those of Heath Robinson and David Langdon, a folding map and black and white photographs. There are two volumes bound in red buckram. Because the magazines were produced in a smaller format, these two volumes are smaller than the one bound in blue buckram. The first volume, from November 1942 to December 1943, the second from January 1944 to December 1944. Produced monthly, from November 1942, these are also full of photographs and humorous illustrations, again David Langdon. There are several black and white photographs and maps. These volumes are bound with the original covers. There are a few ink stamps throughout, although both volumes are in very good condition. Then we have a few loose magazines, January 1945, March 1945, Victory In Europe May 1945, October 1945, November 1945, December 1945. Also February 1946, March 1946, April 1946 and the final one, May 1946. These are in very good condition despite pen/pencil mark to the front of two copies. There is also, Royal Air Force Journal, Middle East Edition, from 23rd January, 1943. A fascinating collection and a must for any aviation enthusiast.
