Edition: Limited
Illustrated By: Rex Whistler
Published By: The Cresset Press
St Mary's Books is incredibly proud to present this limited edition two-volume set of "Gulliver's Travels" by Jonathan Swift. Published by the Cresset Press in 1930, this copy is number 140 out of 195, and is a particularly well-preserved example. Housed in a slipcase that is bound in burgundy cloth, these hardback volumes are handsomely presented in tan morocco leather, half-bound in bright green leather, with five raised bands and gold gilt lettering to the spine. Inside, one finds 158pp. (Volume 1) and 171pp. (Volume 2). Jonathan Swift's classic prose novel satirising human nature and the entire "travellers tales" literary subgenre, is here presented in quarto size, where the infamous tales of Lilliput and Brobigdingnag are brought to life by Rex Whistler's whimsical brightly-coloured illustrations. This two-volume set is particularly well-preserved - though the slipcase has suffered some bumping and wearing, the books themselves appear remarkably bright and clean, on the interior and exterior. "Gulliver's Travels" is looking for a new home and would make for the perfect gift for any collector.
