The Chichester Sun Compass was a specialised, portable navigational tool designed by famed British aviator and navigator Sir Francis Chichester, published in 1944 during World War II. It was engineered specifically to solve the problem of navigating aircraft and vehicles where standard magnetic compasses were unreliable or prone to interference. Uniquely published by George Allen and Unwin as a nine page instruction booklet with a double sided rotating card disk included. Our copy, is in very good condition, bound with blue cloth boards and titles printed in black to the front. The pages are clean, although a little loose. A good addition to any aviation library.
