The Book of Jonah

Edition: Limited

Illustrated By: David Jones

Published By: Douglas Cleverdon

St Mary's Books is incredibly proud to present this 1979 limited edition of "The Book of Jonah" produced by Clover Hill Editions with engravings by David Jones. Part of a limited print run of 470, this copy is number 150 of 300 copies printed on J. Green mould-made paper. Bound in green cloth with fish engravings on the cover, this hardback book as a green cloth spine and gold gilt lettering. Inside, one finds 19 pages of text lifted directly from the authorised version of King James I, where the reader is treated to the narrative of the Book of Jonah, the reluctant prophet who attempted to flee from God's command and was swallowed by a great fish. David Jones' dark and dramatic black ink wood engravings add a sense of gravitas and help to immerse the reader into this tale of divine mercy and human prejudice. This handsomely presented edition is in very good condition, with few notable blemishes or imperfections it has been well-preserved. "The Book of Jonah" is looking for a new home and would make for the perfect gift for any art lover.
