U.S. War Department, Air Service, Division of Military Aeronautics, Air Service Medical is a pioneering World War I medical manual, laying the foundation for modern aerospace medicine by establishing physical, psychological, and physiological standards for military pilots. During World War I, the U.S. military quickly realised that aviation required specialised medical oversight distinct from traditional ground forces. The Air Service Medical operating under the DMA, handled the selection, care, and physical maintenance of Flying Officers. Our copy, bound in black cloth displays some discolouration, with bumping to the corners. The pages are lightly toned with slight foxing to the prelims. The text block is a little loose with a couple of loose pages. Illustrated with several diagrams and black and white photographs. Overall though, a good copy, which still presents well. pp. 446. A good addition to any aviation library.
