St Mary's Books is incredibly proud to present this 1858 first edition of "The Aquarian Naturalist. A Manual for the Sea-Side" by Thomas Rymer Jones. Handsomely presented in speckled brown leather with a simple blind-tooled gold gilt border, this hardback book features intricate blind tooled decorations to its spine which has five raised bands and a red leather title band with gold gilt lettering. A beautiful red, orange and teal marbled pattern features on the edges and continues onto the free endpaper. Inside, one finds i-xviii and 524 pages of text, peppered with stunning and vibrant hand-tinted engravings, which help bring to life Jones' descriptions of aquatic life. This copy is in very good condition, with few notable blemishes or imperfections other than a "James Elkington" ex-libris bookplate on the free endpaper and some very minor foxing throughout, this book appears generally clean and readable, with bright and well-preserved illustrations. "The Aquarian Naturalist" is looking for a new home and would make for the perfect gift for any lover of beautiful illustrations or natural history enthusiast.
