Edition: The Albion Edition
Published By: Frederick Warne & Co.
St Mary's Books is proud to present the "Albion" edition of "The Poetical Works of Sir Walter Scott". Hndsomely bound in speckled leather with an intricate gold gilt blind tooled border, this hardback book has similar intricate decorations on its spine, which has four raised bands and a green leather title band featuring gold gilt text. A beautiful orange, red, and blue marbled pattern features on this books' edges and continues inside on its free endpaper. Inside, one finds i-viii and 758 pages of text followed by 2 pages of advertisements to the back of the book. Within the pages of this book, the reader is treated to an anthology of Sir Walter Scott's classic poetry, including his famous narrative poems, Marmion and The Lady of the Lake. This copy is in good condition - the exterior has suffered some minor bumps and scrapes including a small section of damage to the bottom edge of the spine, the marbled edges have faded, and there is a "Scire Sitiens" paste-down to the free endpaper, and significant foxing from pages i-9 and from 752 to the end. However, the remainder of the interior pages remain bright, clean, and readable, and this is overall a well-preserved example. "The Poetical Works of Sir Walter Scott" is looking for a new home and would make for the perfect gift for any poetry enthusiast.
