Handsomely presented in brown leather with an intricate blind tooled gold gilt border and a gold gilt crest with the motto, "Mors Aut Honorablis Vita", or "Death before Dishonour". On the spine, one finds similarly intricate gold gilt decorations between five raised bands and a red leather title band with gold gilt lettering. A beautiful blue, yellow, white and mauve marbled pattern features on the edges and continues inside the book on the free endpaper. Inside, one finds 209 pages of text, peppered with intricate black ink scenes, helping to bring this historical novel to life. This copy is in very good condition, with few notable blemishes or imperfections other than an inscription on the front free endpaper, and some minor foxing on the prelims pages and up until page 2, and from roughly page 206 to the end, with the remainder of the pages appearing bright, clean and readable. "To the Lions" is looking for a new home and would make for the perfect gift for any lover of a historical novel.
