A beautifully bound copy, published in 1884 and written by Irish author Henry Frith. The book is a compilation of harrowing accounts of early mountain exploration from around the world. This copy bound in brown cloth with gilt titles and pictorial to the front and spine, is in good condition despite some flaws. There is a little discolouration to the boards with bumping along the top edge and a light lean to the spine. There is cracking to the internal hinges and a few of the pages are loose. Neat inscription to the front pastedown and the occasional spot of foxing, otherwise the pages are clean. The text is beautifully enhanced by several line drawings. pp. x + 320. Overall a lovely copy and a great additin to any private library.
