A colelction of 134 biographies from World War I aviation aces, from both sides of the conflict, including American, British, Canadian, French and German Pilots. Illustrated with 75 historical photographs documenting the airmen and their aircraft. This First Edition copy, published in 1967, includes a signed photograph of the Author to the front free endpaper. Arch Whitehouse, was an aerial gunner and pilot during the War. This copy is complete with a pictorial dust jacket. Underneath lie pale cloth boards with bright gilt titles to the spine. Overall a very good copy displaying only a little wear to the dust jacket. There is a minor mark along the fore-edge of the text, and minor pencil notation to the pages, however the pages are generally very clean. pp. xix + 384. Overall a very good copy and part of a huge aviation collection just acquired by St Mary's Books.
