Josef Hofmann, was a German royal government advisor and engineer who fascinated with early flight built a working scale model of a steam powered flying machine around the turn of the century. This volume is profusely illustrated with diagrams and analyses the engineering breakthroughs up to 1911, just after the Wright brothers public flights. This copy bound in brown cloth with dark brown title band to the front is an ex-library copy and displays a little wear and discolouration to the binding. There are library stamps to the front endpapers and prelims, although the rest of the pages are clean. pp. 232. A scarce copy and a must for any aviation enthusiast. German Text.
