St Mary's Books is incredibly proud to present this circa 1944 original "Whittle W2/700 Aero Engine Running and Servicing Notes", complete with notes and original photographs compiled by Arthur D. Smithers, an engineer involved in testbed installations. Held together in a paper folder, this archive contains handwritten notes written by Smithers describing his involvement in the project, alongside original contemporary photographs, which he has annotated describing his experiences. The Engine Running and Servicing Notes themselves comprise of 88 pages of typed notes, complete with blueprint cutaways, hand-coloured tracings, and more. This fantastic archive of items tells the story of one engineers intimate involvement with this fascinating project and engine which directly accelerated the jet age. This set is in good condition - the original paper folders have suffered some signfiicant bumping and wearing at the edges, in addition some of the photographs have faded and suffered similar edge-wear. Finally, the interior pages have slightly yellowed, and there is some minor offsetting on each page due to rust from the staples. This fantastic, original, and incredibly scarce collection of items is looking for a new home and would make for the perfect gift for any aviation enthusiast.
