St Mary's Books are incredibly proud to present this scarce volume, containing all 12 issues of the first run of "Aeronautics", published by the American Engineer and Railroad Journal. Starting with the October 1893 first issue and finishing with the final, September 1894, issue, this handsomely presented book contains each issue bound-in. Bound in half tan leather with brown cloth boards featuring a beautiful blind tooled decorative pattern, this hardback book has gold gilt lettering to its spine. Inside, one finds this rare run of the first American periodical dedicated specifically to aeronautics, which, perhaps because it was so pioneering for its time, only ran for 12 issues before being absorbed back into "The American Engineer and Railroad Journal" as a sub-section. Within the pages of these issues, the reader is treated to technical diagrams, graphs, and other information concerning the early age of flight. This copy is in very good condition - though the corners and edges of the spine are slightly rubbed, the remainder of the exterior appears undamaged. In addition, the interior pages are remarkably well-preserved, and appear bright, clean and readable with few notable blemishes or imperfections. "Aeronautics" is looking for a new home and would make for the perfect gift for any aviation enthusiast.
