St Mary's Books are proud to present this 1805 fourth and revised edition of "The Adventures of the Six Princesses of Babylon, in their Travels to the Temple of Virtue" by Lucy Peacock. Handsomely bound in full leather with a later leather spine featuring a red leather title band and gold gilt lettering, this hardback book contains i-ix and 201 pages of text. Inside, one is greeted with a wonderful frontispiece, illustrated by A. and J. Mills, depicting the Princess Miranda delivered from the power of Delay by the Dwarf Diligence. Within the pages of this book, the reader is treated to one of Lucy Peacock's first tales, written to be a children's adaptation of Edmund Spenser's Faerie Queene, this story was dedicated, with permission, to Princess Mary. This copy is in very good condition - though the corners are slightly bumped and worn, there is a later spine, an inscription on the front free endpaper, and some minor foxing throughout - the book nevertheless remains remarkably clean given its age. "The Adventures of the Six Princesses of Babylon" are looking for a new home where they will be similarly enjoyed and appreciated.
