St Mary's Books are proud to present this curious set of the "New Edition" of "Elegant Extracts or useful and entertaining passages in prose" by Vicesimus Knox. Bound with various family members' names to the spines, numerous blank extra pages have been added to each volume to ensure uniformity in width and appearance. These leatherbound hardback books are handsomely presented with five raised bands to their spines, blind tooled gold gilt decorations, and green and red leather title bands. Within the pages of these works, the reader is treated to Knox's infamous literary anthology, intended to instruct young people in reading, thinking, speaking, comprehension, and morality. This set is in very good condition - though the corners are slightly bumped, the spines are worn, there is some splitting at the hinges and some damage to the exterior boards, the interior pages appear remarkably bright, clean and readable. "Elegant Extracts" here bound in family bindings are looking for a new home and would make for the perfect gift for any literature enthusiast.
