St Mary's Books is proud to present this Folio Society edition of Cecil Lewis' classic 1936 memoir Sagittarius Rising. Throughout the 230 pages of this book, Lewis recounts his experience as a British fighter pilot during WWI as part of the Royal Flying Corps. British historian Max Arthur provides an introduction to this work, explaining the historical significance of Lewis' writings (pp.vii-xii) and the author gives a foreword to the edition (pp.xiii-xiv). Gorgeous lithographs by C. R. W. Nevinson decorate several of the pages, depicting scenes of military aviation, providing visual intrigue to the fascinating account. The book is bound in three-quarters by olive-green cloth, the front cover is printed with one of Nevinson's black and white lithographs, showing a plane flying over a countryside scene. The title of the book is shown strikingly in red with a blue border down the spine and the author's surname sits atop in white lettering - the book comes housed in a red protective slipcase. A beautiful book that is perfect for any military-history enthusiast.
