St Mary's Books is proud to present The Folio Society's 2001 edition of W. Stanley Moss' 1950 Ill Met By Moonlight - the autobiographical account of the kidnap of Nazi General Heinrich Kreipe from Crete in 1944 by British Special Operations officers. Inside, an introduction by M. R. D Foot (pp.9-14), an author's preface (pp.15-16), an epilogue by Iain Moncreiffe (pp.187-192) and an afterword by Patrick Leigh Fermor (pp.193-211), all assist in proving context and additional information related to Moss and the operation. Illustrations and maps too offer the reader a visual guide to the historical account (pp.19-186). This is an exceptionally beautiful copy, bound in dark navy cloth, printed with an illustration depicting the officers approaching the island of Crete, with the different phases of the lunar cycle shown in the sky. The book comes in a matching, dark navy protective slipcase, which, along with the book, has no notable blemishes.
