St Mary's Books is proud to present Eustace Wareing's 1955 translation of aerospace pioneer Heinz Gartmann's 1953 work The Men Behind the Space Rockets (originally Träumer, Forscher, Konstrukteure: Das Abenteuer der Weltraumfahrt) - a history of aerospace engineering as told through the biographies of the scientists. Photographic illustrations of both rockets and engineers accompany the text and provide the reader with a helpful visual guide. The book is bound with a dark navy blue cloth, the author's name, book title and publishing house name is embossed in gilt lettering on the spine. There is some on the ends of the spine. The book is housed in its original dust-jacket, which features several photographs of various rockets surrounding the title and author's name, which are printed in yellow letting. The dust-jacket is partially torn at the ends of the spine and there is some rubbing at the top edge of the front cover. This is a really fantastic example of the text's first english edition and would be a wonderful git for anyone interested in aerospace engineering and scientific history. pp.185.
