St Mary's Books is incredibly proud to present this first edition of P. G. Wodehouse's work Psmith Journalist, first published as a book in 1915 after its serialization between 1909-1910 - the story follows the eccentric Rupert Psmith as he takes over a failing weekly paper in New York. This edition contains a frontispiece and eleven full-page black-and-white plates by T. M. R. Whitwell, the plate between pages 48-49 is torn by about 3/4 of the page at the gutter. The book is bound beautifully in a dark blue cloth, the cover is printed with an illustration in yellow, black and white, the title and author's name is above it in gilt lettering. The spine also features a vignette in a similar style. The book is in good condition, the spine is bumped at both ends and there is some rubbing to the illustration and lettering on the bottom edge. The front cover is also slightly rubbed at the illustration. Some pages, mainly those up until 'Contents' are affected by some age-related foxing. There is a brief pen inscription on the front endsheet dated 1916, it has left a mark in the following page. A highly sought edition and wonderful title from one of history's great comedic writers. pp.247
