St Mary's Books is proud to present this 1930 edition of Edith Carey's 1904 work The Channel Islands - a historical and geographical guide to the islands of Jersey, Guernsey, Alderney and Sark, exploring folk traditions, local cultures and regional lore. This edition contains 32 stunning colour illustrations by the painter H. B. Wimbush, which depict various scenes from the Channel islands. The author provides a preface (pp.v-vii). The book is bound in a blue cloth, alongside a pattern of various coats of arms, the title and names of the author and illustrator are embossed onto the front cover, and they can be seen in gilt lettering on the spine. There is some marking to the top edge of the front cover and some bumping to the ends of the spine. This copy comes with the original dust-jacket, which features an illustration of Wimbush's on the front cover and spine. The dust-jacket is worn at the edges and is torn in several places. This is a truly insightful history of the Channel islands with incredible illustrations and it would be the perfect purchase for anyone interested in regional history. pp.223.
