A hugely comprehensive and impressively illustrated book of Picabia's surreal artworks 1153 illustrations, 226 in full colour. The dust jacket depicts a detail of 'Ciments' [1921-22], the rear shows 'Optophonell' [1922]. Original green cloth binding. Full-page artworks reproduced in the book chart the early, more traditonal Impressionism-inspired pieces such as 'The Church At Moret' and 'The Woman With Mimosa' to the mature Dadaism and Surrealism of his later work. Nearly 1000 of Picabia's works are catalogued here and disucssed by Spanish art historian Borras drawing on 15 years research. This is one of the definitive monographs on Picabia, more broadly a major document on modern art. Small rip to the spine. pp.549. Very good overall.
