St Mary's Books is proud to present the Folio Society's Centenary Edition of Kenneth Grahame's classic,  "The Wind in the Willows", illustrated by Charles van Sandwyck. Limited to 1,000 copies only, this collectors item is number 647. This edition is housed in a charming cloth-bound forest green clamshell case, complete with a beautifully decorated beige title band, featuring gilt lettering and a lovely illustrated dragonfly. Inside, the book is cushioned by beige material, and is accompanied by a helpful flier with information on the production, materials, illustrations and rarity of this edition. This beautiful book is hand-bound in quarter vellum, blocked on the spine in 22-carat gold, with ellum tips and paper sides blocked in three shades of metallic foil, and features a gilted top edge. The stunning pictoral board features Mole and Rat in a rowing boat encircled by decorative willow leaves. Inside, one finds illustrated free-endpapers depicting Toad Hall, closely followed by a letter from Toad Esq. himself with limited edition illustrations. Each edition of this work features a new hand-printed copper etching signed and numbered by the artist, as well as around 100 illustrations throughout the book, and 16 tipped-in colour plates.
