St Mary's Books is proud to present a complete set of first editions of "The War in the Air Being the Story of the part played in the Great War by the Royal Air Force" by Walter Raleigh and H. A. Jones. This collection includes volumes I-VI, the appendices, and Vols. III and V Maps, and each edition (apart from the maps) is complete with its original dustjacket. These hardback books are handsomely bound in navy cloth with gold gilt lettering to their spines. Inside, one finds a detailed history not only of the vital part the RAF played in the Great War, but a history of aviation itself. This is a stunning piece of history, based on a close examination of primary documents - many of which the reader is treated to in the appendices and through the two volumes of maps. This set is in good condition - though some editions are slightly foxed, there is some fading to the boards, and some tearing and bumping to the dustjackets - it is nevertheless remarkable to find a set in such good condition despite its age. This complete set of "The War in the Air" is looking for a new home, and would be the perfect gift for the historian, collector, or aviation enthusiast.
