This lovely hardback 1935 first edition of "Biggles Flies East" by Captain W. E. Johns is bound in blue cloth with black ink lettering and illustrations, including a charming image of a plane flying over pyramids on the cover. Inside, one finds 256 pages of text, complete with full-page black ink illustrations, and a full-colour frontispiece, "He was aroused from his reverie by the distant clatter of a machine-gun". This book, where Biggles acts as a double agent and goes undercover as a German spy in Palestine, is in good condition. Though there is some bumping and wearing to the covers, an inscription on the front free endpaper, and a lean to the spine - this copy is remarkably well preserved given its age and rarity. This book is looking for a new home, and would make for a perfect gift for any Biggles enthusiasts.
