Biggles - Air Commodore

Captain W. E. Johns

Edition: First

Illustrated By: Howard Leigh and Alfred Sindall

Published By: Oxford University Press

This lovely hardback 1937 first edition of "Biggles - Air Commodore" by Captain W. E. Johns is bound in yellow cloth with blue ink lettering and illustrations, incluing the charming image on the cover of planes leaving an airbase. Inside, one finds 255 pages of text, complete with full page black ink illustrations and a full-colour frontispiece, "The amphibian twisted like a snipe as the pilot strove to spoil the other's aim". This book, in which Biggles investigates mysterious British ship sinkings in the Indian Ocean, is in fair to good condition. Though the covers are slightly bumped and worn, there is a water stain on the spine, the spine leans, and there is significant foxing throughout the book and even on the cover - this book still remains clean and readable, and the damage it has is more than fair for a book that is almost one hundred years old. This book is looking for a new home, and would make for a perfect gift for any Biggles enthusiast.
