St Mary's Books is proud to present this wonderful 1956 first edition of "The Exploration of Mars" by Willy Ley and Wernher von Braun, illustrated by Chesley Bonestell. Housed in its original green dustjacket featuring a stunning painting by Bonestell of a spaceship flying over Mars, this hardback book is bound in green cloth with white ink lettering to the spine. Inside, one finds 184 pages of text complete with 16 full-colour plates, and numberous other black ink illustrations by Bonestell, helping to supplement this fantastic book's exploration into the possibilities and a potential blueprint for man's first exploratory trip to Mars. Though the dustjacket is significantly damaged, and thus can only be described as fair, this book is in very good condition despite its age - with only some minor foxing to report, the pages of its bok and its plates are clean and bright. This book is looking for a new home, and would make for a perfect gift for any space exploration, or space illustrations, enthusiast.
