Written a year before his tragically early death at the age of 22, "Ad Astra" or, "To Malta in an Aircraft Carrier" constitutes a biographical account of Arnold Barlow's adventures in aviation. Handsomely bound in black leather with gold gilt lettering, this hardback book contains many of Barlow's original black and white photographs supplementing the tales of his adventures, as well as a small obituary section at the back, recounting the contemporary newspaper reporting of his tragic passing. This book is exceptionally rare, as it was privately printed, it most likely constitutes one of a very limited print run. This particular copy is in very good condition, with only some very minor wear to the boards, however the text remains clean, bright, and readable. This wonderful slice of history and incredibly rare book is looking for a new home, and would make for the perfect gift for any fans of Arnold Barlow.
