Edition: Early Edition
Published By: Sampson Low, Marston, Searle, and Rivington
This lovely 1882 early edition of "A Ride Across the Channel and Other Adventures in the Air" by Lietenant Colonel Fred Burnaby is bound red cloth and quarter red leather with gold gilt lettering and decorations to the spine which has raised bands, and marbled edges. Inside, past the marbled free endpapers, one finds 128 pages of text, complete with a fold out map showing the balloon voyage, which has a small inscription. This lovely book, which provides an emotional and descriptive account of a balloon journey along with technical detail, is in very god condition. Though the boards are slightly bumped and worn and the marbled edges are faded, the pages are very clean and readable - remarkable for a book of this age and rarity. "A Ride Across the Channel" is looking for a new home, and would make for a perfect gift for any aviation enthusiasts.
