Aerial Navigation

Charles Blachford Mansfield, M. A.

Edition: Early Edition

Published By: Macmillan and Co.

St Mary's Books is proud to present this 1877 early edition of "Aerial Navigation" by Charles Blachford Mansfield M. A., edited and published posthumously by his brother, Robert Blachford Mansfield B.A.. Bound in a lovely maroon cloth with black ink and gold gilt lettering, borders, and decorations, including the charming illustration of an aircraft on the cover, this hardback book contains xxiv and 513 pages of text. Inside, one finds numerous black ink diagrams and figures, as well as calculations, supplementing this text which provides a history of the problem of aerial navigation, and then proposes some solutions regarding the shape of the vessel and the materials it should be made out of. This book on early aeronautical engineering is in good condition - despite the signature and stamp on the free endpaper, the splitting to the spine, the minor bumps to the covers, and the light foxing throughout - this book is nevertheless in good condition considering its age and rarity. "Aerial Navigation" is looking for a new home, and would make for a lovely gift for any early aviation enthusiasts.
